Extra Post: November

This book was very helpful for me because it gave  me a lot of insight as to how family coaches help out their clients and what it takes to be like them. It also gave me a lot of tips as to how to run/manage a successful business and the problems that business owners go through on a daily basis and the way to avoid/resolve them.

***This month I also started looking for a new mentor and although I got a few responses back I'm still in search of the right match that can help me take my senior project to the next level***

EQ

Research
1."I reviewed the rule of three for writing and EQ."

Essential Question

Once a topic is chosen, the student will develop a working essential question.  The purpose of the working essential question is to help the student build a strong foundation of research which will allow him or her to create an essential question that encourages depth and rigor in the chosen topic.  An essential question must:
  • Provide a framework for studies (It calls for breadth and depth of research, Is not a yes/no question)
  • Take a stance (It allows you to argue some point, Cannot be a recitation of facts or a list)
  •  Format (It is specific, The wording makes sense)

2. Review following EQ's:

a) What is the most important factor in healthy weight loss?
Provides a framework for studies by allowing research to be able to be breadth/depth and no yes/no question
Takes a stance by allowing the person to incorporate other methods of healthy weight loss and argue different points
 Format does make sense

b) What is most important to securing a conviction in a criminal investigation?
Provides a framework for studies by not being a yes or no question as well as allowing more depth/breadth to take place
Takes a stance by letting the person have multiple answers and argue different points
Format could be worded a little differently

c) What is most important in creating a hairstyle that best satisfies a customer?
☑ Provides a framework for studies by allowing more breadth/depth to take place and its not a yes or no question
Takes a stance by allowing the researcher to get multiple answers to and argue different points
Format does make sense

d) How can anesthesiologist best treat chronic pain?
☑ Provides a framework of study by not being a yes or no question and allowing research to be more in breadth/depth
Takes a stance by letting the person argue different points of study
Format does make sense

3. What is the best coaching method in order for a  family business to be successful?
-How can a coach best help a family resolve their problems in order for their business to be successful?

*****Disclaimer: I am currently in the process of wanting to change my topic to Coaching in the Family Business because most of my research has been on that and it's something that's very much caught my eye. I have two potential places for mentorship in mind but I have yet to hear back from them as of right now.*****

Lesson 1 Reflection

Presentation
 Positive Statement

1.What are you most proud of in your Lesson 1 Presentation and why?
-I'm most proud about making time because that's what I was the most nervous about and I kind of proved to myself that I was able to accomplish 1/3 or our final presentation.

Questions to Consider

2.    a.     What assessment would you give yourself on your Lesson 1 Presentation (self-assessment)?

       AE       P          AP       CR       NC

       b.     Explain why you deserve that grade using evidence from the Lesson 1 component contract.
-I believe I deserve a P because in my opinion I did everything that was in the contract plus I completed the time required and I got pretty good feedback after so now I know some of the things that I need to fix on.

3. What worked for you in your Lesson 1?
-I believe what worked for me was explaining the different aspects that go into family businesses and showing them the different, well known family businesses there are. Not only that but explaining some of the different coaching methods that take place when dealing with family disputes and how it differentiates based on families.

4.  (What didn't work) If you had a time machine, what would you have done differently to improve your Lesson 1?
-I did not like the time I decided to present because I kind of felt like I had to hold out a little bit since it was right before break and personally I hate when people go on and on while its my own break time and therefore I did exactly 8 minutes. Now that I look back at it I wish I would've done my own thing because at the end of the day it's my own presentation and there's a couple of things that I wish I could've said but I guess you live and you learn.
